Our Story
Why We Built Our Ice Bandana
Indy Outfitters was founded by Scott Wickersham and Sean Bowman.
Sean brings a background in human performance, behavioral science, applied research, and PhD-level expertise studying how people perform in real-world conditions. His work has focused on understanding the relationship between comfort, fatigue, performance, and human behavior.
Scott is a U.S. Army veteran, entrepreneur, and software engineer whose career has focused on solving practical problems and building reliable systems that perform in demanding environments.
Beyond our professional backgrounds, we're both endurance athletes and 100-mile trail runners who have spent countless hours training, racing, and recovering in extreme heat.
Like many runners, hikers, and outdoor workers, we tried cooling towels, neck wraps, and ice bandanas from a variety of brands. While they all aimed to solve the same problem, we were consistently disappointed by the results. Cooling performance was often short-lived, fit was poor, capacity was limited, and many products simply weren't comfortable enough for extended use.
We believed a better ice bandana was possible.
So we built one.
Every design decision was made with cooling performance, comfort, fit, durability, and real-world usability in mind. From the fabric selection and stretch characteristics to the ice capacity, zipper design, and body-hugging fit, we focused on building the product we wanted to wear ourselves.
The result is the Ice Bandana—a Made-in-USA cooling bandana designed for runners, hikers, outdoor workers, endurance athletes, and anyone who spends time in the heat and expects more from their gear.
Today, Indy Outfitters is proudly based in Indiana, and our Ice Bandanas are proudly manufactured in the United States. We're committed to building products that help people stay cooler, more comfortable, and more capable when temperatures rise.
